Dr. Bloomfield is a nationally recognized scholar of Communication Studies, professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and author of the 2019 book Communication Strategies for Engaging Climate Skeptics: Religion and the Environment, which addresses how Christian practitioners engage with topics of climate change in their everyday lives.

In this talk, Emma Frances Bloomfield will discuss how, to address the compounding effects of climate change, we need to communicate scientific information and build trust between scientific institutions and public audiences. She will examine communication strategies such as storytelling, dialogue, and collaboration as vehicles for engaging people in sustainability and climate advocacy. With a focus on Christian communities, the talk explores the relationship between religion and the environment and how to leverage identity in having environmental conversations.
